Guide: Loadouts on a budget

"What is a loadout?" well it's everything you wear to go on a mission (ie. game), other than your underwear and socks: clothing, weapon(s), tactical gear, ammo, supplies and the things you need to carry them on the field. Below is a bare-bones list of things, many of which you may already own. Also read my list of Essential Gear

• An AEG
Yes you can go with with a gas pistol, or sniper rifle instead. Most folks choose an AEG for the ease of use and full auto fun. If you need help with choosing one, see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=63

• A Spare battery for your AEG
Nothing sucks more than having to quit early because your AEG ran out of juice. Buy a spare battery for your AEG.

• ANSI Z81 certified full sealing goggles
Shop goggles or even swimming goggles will do if you can't buy airsoft goggles. Read more here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=57

• A bag of BB's
Fill up your magazines before you get to the game and store the rest in a ziplock bag or a small, empty drinking water bottle which can fit in magazine pouch.

• Clothing
You can wear any long sleeve shirt and some cargo pants and you're good to go. Preferably earthtones, plant or dark solid colors. Army surplus combat uniforms (BDU) can be found at thrift shops relatively cheap. For the most part, it's what you would wear for an afternoon hike (boots, hat, etc.)

• A pair of gloves
Getting hit in the finger hurts a hell of a lot more without them.

• Hydration
If you don't have a canteen or hydration back (ie. Camelbak), carry two or more bottles of drinking water.

Optional Gear Carrying Devices

• Tactical vests and Webbing/Belt/Pouches
To be honest, you can stuff practically all your basics into the pants and shirt pockets of a BDU. So a tacvests, pouches, etc. while useful, are more about looks that necessity. Read more here: http://forum.filforce.org/default.aspx?g=posts&t=21

You can buy a cheap tacvest/rig for under $20: A Condor Ranger Chest rig ($18) or go on Ebay and look for an army surplus Load Bearing Vest (LBV) or Chicom AK chest rig.

• Saddle/Book Bag
Very old-school (WWI) but a very practical way to carry your gear. Most folks already have one of these for school, work, or stored in a closet.

• Backpacks/Rucksacks
While it can hold a lot of gear, you have you take it off to get access to your stuff. Unless you're playing on field you have to hike into, you will probably not need to carry that much stuff for a game.
