Thinking of getting a Scar-L

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking VFC, anyone know if they are easy to work on?

We have a WE scar l gbb.

Love it and it's deadly. BUT if you're not willing to work on it and give it some tlc EVERY time you use it then I would stay away from the gbb model.

My son fielded it all day at the Tommy Gun event. Performed flawlessly. Worked on it that night - clean lube and loctite.

Everyone that shot it had a big smile.

One more drawback. 30 round mags only at $40 each.

I've been tempted to go GBB but the $40 mags scare me off every time.

You can get mags cheaper (30%-50%) buying in bulk (+4) from HK retailers.

I have an Echo1 Scar. It's ok. Kinda wobbly in all the wrong places :(
It's really heavy too and feels like you're shooting a 2x4.

A good lender gun.

Yeah that's why I was thinking of getting a VFC if I do get one.
I'd rather pay more than deal with a sloppy build.

I'm surprised you say it's heavy though.
I thought SCARs are lighter than M4s?

All I can say is that do NOT go with Echo1. I had a GBB WE teck and loved it. Just to expensive in mags and other. I loved the Scar FN herstal from G&G! Good luck

I have the VFC SCAR SSR. It worked beautifully until I switched out the barrel and hop, which caused strange feeding issues at the start of each mag. It has never been the same since, and I know other people have had the same issue. So I would say the VFCs are nice at stock, but perhaps a bit lower performing than similarly priced AEGs (high end KWA), but you probably want to stay away from any modification of the hop and barrel.
On a side note, body wise dboys SCARS are very similiar (I would not be surprised if they use rejected VFC bodies), so you could always pick one of those up (I might happen to have one for sale ;) and upgrade it to your preference for less than the total cost of a VFC.

Just my thoughts.

Thanks guys,

I guess I should have updated this to say I went with the VFC.
I'm very happy with it, the quality is top notch.
The FPS was a tad too low for my liking as it was around 290fps with .25s.
I have since upgraded it to 400fps with .25s and managed to keep the high rof.
NOT and easy gun to work on but I don't expect to have too.
