JG MAC-10 Battery MOD

Post by Keeper »

Upgrading the JG MAC-10 I got from here:
http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/JG-MAC10-AEP-p/88816.htm

It comes with a 7.2v NiCD battery with almost no life for shooting the gun. Slow ROF and it hardly makes it through the whole 450rd High-Cap Mag. Here is what I did to use a 7.4v Lipo battery.

-Parts you will need:
Nine Ball MP7 Battery Adapter:

ICS PEQ Box:

Polymer Rail Sections - Search Google for best price and size you want.

Parts I bought:
-Nine Ball MP7 External Battery Adpater

-540rd High_Cap Mag (Optional)

Parts I already had & you would need to buy:
-ICS AN/PEQ Box

First thing, cut a Notch for the power coming from the Nine Ball MP7 Battery Adapter in the Metal Front piece. I did mine with a file. It is light metal and made a slot easy.

Next cut a small slot in the front of the upper receiver to allow the wire to come out from the Nine Ball MP7 Battery Adapter. It is plastic and easy to cut through. I used a dremel and then finished mine up with a file to smooth out the rough edges.

Next you will have to do a small mod to the Nine Ball MP7 Battery Adapter itself. Grind off the sections shown in the picture. This will allow the power to lay without binding inside the gun. Worked out well for me this way. The front of the gun will hold the battery in place and you will not miss those small sections.

Next I cut a short Polymer Rail to length. Reason for the Polymer rail is it will stick to the plastic upper receiver section. Start right in front of the Ejection port for adjusting the Hop Up to the front of the gun. I bought a pile of these awhile ago and I am not sure if they were actually Magpul, but might have been a clone brand. Just search for "Polymer Rail" and you will find them all over. I used a Product called ZAP to glue the rail in place. I use this for all my ABS stuff and holds like iron! You can find it at any hobby store. Feel free to use whatever you think might hold better.

Next I use my ICS PEQ Box and set up how the battery will run. I am using a Tenergy 7.4v 1300mAh 25c Battery for this, but what ever you find that fits will work. I make a small hole in the back of the PEQ box to allow the wire coming out of the MAC-10 to feed into the PEQ Box. I fish the wire through and arrange everything inside the PEQ and close it up.

Nicely done. If only the FPS could be improved on these EAP's. I've owned a few MP7's and while I liked them, I found it frustrating when I'd shoot at guys wearing PC's and them not noticing their hits. Not by much, mind you, just up to 300fps would be nice.

Spring & Piston upgrade is available and might do the trick, but I did not want to rip the gun apart to do that. At close range in a CQB environment, I guess you could use .20s and get 280-285 with it. I used my TM MAC-10 at Styrker with good results.

Just for S&G's I am going to use it this Saturday at a Training for the heck of it. Looking to have fun with it.
