Air Tank Rig Question

Post by Keeper »

I am taking the plunge into the Polarstar realm and decided to fix up a gun that has been down for quite awhile that I loved using in the past, my ARES PPSH. I am getting it done by Rudy at Bingo Airsoft and have the whole package coming with two tanks and Air Rig configured by him. Figured he is building it, so it will be done right.

Biggest thing now is....What do you use to hold your Air Tank for your PolarStar? I have vinateg Replica Drum Mag Pouches and Stick mag pouches for the PPSH already and would love to stick with that theme. I am sure some of the Russian Rig guys on here like Mr. Spank can help me out suggesting something like a Rutsack or back pack that would have that Vintage look to it.

I am told these are good choices, but they would have that 'New' look and I was looking for something more Vintage looking that would work.

if you have some suggestions, I would appreciate it. Links would be helpful as well. Much appreciated folks!

so i dont know about the vintage look you want but i can tell you the most secure thing i have ever used in my paintball days

http://www.rockstartactical.com/product ... i-vcam.htm

this one held my 88cu 4500 psi tank no probelm through many a games! it sits horizontally where i set it up across my shoulders to help with the weight which i must says was the best idea being i have had the horizontal tank in the small of my back and it was heavy and took its toll on my lower back and would get caught on brush when bushwhacking.

this item comes in atacs muticam black tiger strip and i think acu.

i know there is no vintage look with it but in an earlier post you commented on making your rig lighter and as i said before this sits nice across your shoulders.

Saw those and the biggest thing everyone is telling me is to cover your Regulator. Not sure what the big deal is as I will have a Tournament Lock on it in case of any issues.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

You could use a veshmeshok. If your doing it for Vietnam era, I have used a messenger or grenade bag to house my tank. You could use a medical bag as well, or even as gas mask bag as they are large enough.

Funny thing was I found a Russian RPG-7 Anti Tank Rocket Ammo Carrying Backpack which looks totally cool and might fit the tank. A tad expensive, but looks different. Whole tank and Regulator would fit inside it and be out of sight.

so i am not gonna lie, that is pretty BA looking!

and as far as regs go, i have never had a problem not covering mine while crashing through brush and getting hit with paint in the back. but there are not the toughest. i have dropped a tank before and damaged the threading.

Those could fit co2 bottles better then large enough HPA bottles. Yea that's a bit expensive. I waited till I found mine no more than $50. If country of origin is of no matter to you. That price can still be found.

That back pack is referred to as " assistant gunners backpack" it has the space for 3 warheads and 3 booster charges.

I just checked my bag, the only size bottle I could fit was a 72/3000 and it was a tight fit in the center warhead column. No 4500 sized tank would fit.

I am getting two Ninja 90/4500 tanks, so I guess that back pack is a NO GO then. Bummer, it did look cool.

Saw these two when I was doing a search. Interesting layout with either a Black or Red Star:

The assistant gunners bag, could still work. You would merely have to cut out 1 divider to fit any size tank you wish. But it will have some play room, keep in my mind that the assistant gunner bag can't be used for ww2 era. That is unless you have the ppsh for Vietnam era? It could certainly work for modern insurgent look.
