converting m4 to semi only sniper

Post by Sleeper »

So this is a future project I'm keeping in mind to turn my G&P eventually into a sort of DMR
i really want it to be able to reach out and touch someone so I am seriously considering modding the gun to just shoot semi so i can boost the fps a bit more for some range while using a heavier BB for that sweet sweet accuracy but still able to play within field limits.
a tightbore is also a needed accessory, and I'm thinking of an airsoftGI Miracle barrel http://www.airsoftgi.com/advanced_searc ... d=&x=0&y=0 But this isn't about that

I'm really looking for a somewhat inexpensive way to convert an m4 to only firing in semi-automatic. Would a MOSFET chip work? or maybe something like the Burst Avocado?
or is there maybe something i can do to the gearbox to disable the full-auto?

Programmable mosfet is one way of achieving it.

The other method involves modifying the fire selector plate. See http://www.86th.org/?id=sniper

I saw a guy mod-ed the lower receiver with a pin so the selector could not go above Semi. I guess in case he wanted to go back to Full in the future he could take the pin out. The pin was a flat head carriage bolt which went out from inside the lower receiver. This way he would have to take the gun apart to get it back to Full Auto. Seems like Staff at events would allow it with the higher FPS and shooting Semi only.
