When upgrading the spring on your gearbox, you may find that your FPS hasn't increased as much as it should. Which means you've got an air leak. And a common place where this occurs is the air nozzle.

A cheap way to fix a loose nozzle is by using plumbers teflon tape available at any hardware store. Wrap a small piece of tape around the cylinder-head air tube. This will seal any gaps between it and the air nozzle. Don't use too much tape or the nozzle won't fit and you'll end up scraping all that tape off the tube.

You can do this for a loose cylinder head or even around the outside of your hop-up bucking. These are all places where air leaks can rob you of FPS. With a proper air seal you can expect an improvement of as much as 30-40fps.

Unfortunately over time, the teflon does wear away, so you will have to re-apply it. The best way to permanently fix a nozzle leak is by replacing your stock nozzle with o-ring equipped air-seal nozzle, like this Guarder.

What makes air seal nozzles different is that there is a tiny o-ring inside, that really makes the seal with the piston head, air tight. Air seal nozzles usually say they have o-rings in the product description. If in doubt, ask the retailer.

Remember, the most efficient way to increase your FPS is by removing any air leaks in your system.
