If you wish to participate on NYCAirsoft.com, you are required to comply with these rules.
Failures to comply will be issued a warning. Two warnings will warrant probation. Three warnings will warrant a ban.
WHY ALL THESE RULES?
- COMPLETE PROFILE AND POST AN INTRO
In order to post on this board, you have to complete your profile and introduce yourself. Follow these clear and simple steps to doing that: NEW USER REQUIREMENTS. If you can't be bothered to do this, then you really don't belong on this board and you aren't ready to attend an event where rules must be followed.
- AVATAR PHOTO, REAL NAMES AND CALLSIGNS
If you aren't willing to be honest about WHO you really are, how can you be trusted to play honestly?
A) You must include a clear photo of your face as your avatar*
B) You must have your field callsign/nickname as either your USER ID or your signature
C) You must include your Real Name in your profile
*Law enforcement and military personal should contact a Mod if this is an issue.
- USE THE SEARCH TOOL BEFORE STARTING A NEW TOPIC
Use the SEARCH TOOL find any existing threads covering your topic, before you start a new one one. If there is one, add to the discussion. This reduces duplicate threads and is why we are so anal about having clearly written titles for all topics.
- DO NOT WRITE VAGUE TITLES
Clear and informative tittles are crucial to making the SEARCH TOOL work and being able to find topics and info. Always include the brand/model name of the product you wish to discuss in the title if possible. Don't title your thread "What scope fits this gun?". Identify your AEG or product. NO BLIND TITLES Don't write vague titles like, "Which is better?", "The coolest thing!" or "Help!!!!". A reader should NOT BE FORCED to open up the thread to figure out what it is about. Read a the Title How-To-Guide.
- IDENTIFY AND LINK
If your thread is about a specific airsoft product, always include the Brand and Model name in your first post (even if it is in the TITLE) and always include a URL link to the product. Many AEG's are similar but not identical and having a link to the web page with the exact model avoids confusion, misunderstandings and misinformation.
- !!!!NO EXCESSIVE PUNCTUATION!!!!!????????
Titles and posts with excessive punctuation are the online equivalent of 'acting out'. It is an immature practice and leads to an escalation of punctuation. Other idiots who want more attention will attempt to add even more punctuation marks to their titles and posts, and so on. Thus, it is not acceptable.
- DON'T CREATE DUPLICATE TOPICS
Don't start multiple topics on the same subject. And don't start a new topic if on already exists that you can post a relevant question to.
- CHOOSE THE RIGHT FORUM
General Discussion is not the place to start if there is a specific forum. Familiarize yourself with the different sections of this board before starting a new Topic in one. The forums are organized into specific areas and are clearly labeled. If you don't know where to post, post in the INFO BOOTH.
- DO NOT DOUBLE POST
Don't not post twice in a row without a reply post from another person. If you need to make an additional comment, then simply EDIT your last post and add to it.
- DO NOT PLAGIARIZE/STEAL
Do not copy posts or photos from other web pages or boards without identifying the author and linking back to their website. If possible, get permission from the author before you repost. Generally, they'll be flattered and say yes.
- BACK UP YOUR STATEMENTS
When posting a contradiction to a previous post, provide reasons and/or experiences, quotes, websites, etc. supporting your point. Link and cite it. Wikipedia and YouTube
- "NICE!" or "LOL" IS NOT A POST
If you don't have anything more to say than "nice" or "LOL" or "ditto", please don't reply just to do that. It's a waste of space. If you want to say thanks or stroke somebody's ego, PM them.
- GRAMMAR AND SPELLING ARE YOUR FRIENDS
If you want people to respect your writing, you must write well. Use correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. This is a message board and not INSTANT MESSENGER, so treat it like a college report, not an e-mail. Do not write in ALL CAPS (unless you are yelling). Don't forget proper capitalization; writing in all low-caps implies you're a child or not a native english speaker.
- CORRECT YOUR MISTAKES/TYPOS
Nobody's perfect. If somebody points out an error, typo or misspelling, don't say sorry, please go back to that post and make a correction. Don't take it personally. If you see somebody make a typo, PM them. Hell, I have terrible spelling, so please PM me if you see a typo.
- DON'T POST BIG PHOTOS
Images may not be larger than 640x480 pixels in size. Tips on hosting, resizing and posting photos can be found in the Airsoft Photos Forum.
- DON'T MAKE BIG SIGNATURES
Don't hog up space on pages by making overly large signatures with long lists of guns or large images. The tallest your signatures can be is 120 pixels tall (which is the height of this forums main banner or about as tall as this paragraph. If you want learn more about what is allowed read this:
http://www.nycairsoft.com/forum/viewtop ... &t=13&p=14
- ACT LIKE AN ADULT NOT A JERK
Don't post anything indecent or intentionally offensive. In other words, write as if your mother, kids or your pastor were reading it. Same goes for images you post or links. Be polite to each other. Users may immediately be banned or put on probation if they post:
• Spam Ads
• Racially/Sexually hateful language, links or images
• Sexual pornographic language, links or images
• Cursing or Abusive language or images attacking another user or Moderator
Are we rule Nazi's? Hardly. This board is more rigorous and strict than most airsoft forums. This is not a chat-room, we have a Facebook group for that: http://www.facebook.com/groups/185254511522956
) . We have high standards of writing here. If you can write in a mature and professional manner then you are welcome to post.
If not, then thanks for stopping by.
