We had a excellent turnout of highly focused and mature players, who were motivated to play hard. Action was fast paced and intense. We tried a Cimarians style combat injury battle system where BB hits can cause limb immobilization instead of death. I put the teams through a 3 part Iraq Insergency scenario game. Then we played a mini version of Sugar Hill. I tried to setting up a 2-gun target course for the end of the day but we ran out time.
I hope you all had fun. Thanks to Evike.com and Stryker Airsoft for donating prizes. And thanks to everybody who donated to the IFHF.

Re: AAR Fallen Dawn 3/24/11
We just wanted to say thanks to all for an amazing event today. This was our first official airsoft event and working with the entire group was just a great experience for myself and my 15 year-old son Graham ( Cracker ). Everyone welcomed us and took time to work with the newbs on gear, tactics, and team work. Again thanks to all for putting up with us. We were ( and are ) stoked more after the event than before.Moondog wrote:We had a excellent turnout of highly focused and mature players, who were motivated to play hard. Moondog was the master of cermonies and put together a great three hours for us. Team death matches, crazy scenarios w/ planting/defending bombs ( nice touch by the way with it being a dummy after all of that work ), secret mission instructions for each team, zombies, and finally an individually timed two gun event ( and SK put the hurt to all of us with an incredible run ), and a killer raffle at the end.
The folks at Strykerairsoftnj were excellent. Our refs Anthony and Kevin made the day fun and were just plain nice young adults. We hung around a bit afterwards to watch the public session and I had some time to talk to the owner. It was well run and a safe environment. It was also nice to see families and smaller kids involved at the public session.
There were so many memorable individual and team memories from the day for me. One has to be Keats lugging his Thompson around. Another would be SK and I shooting at each other thru the camo netting and both calling leg hits on ourselves at the same time. We both broke out in laughter after that one as we were both imobilized with the netting still between us. Yet another would be Elton and his P90 working the room; he actually made entire circles of the complex. Cracker opted to bring the tri-shot shotgun and loved it !! He was ecstatic on the way home talking about using both it and has 1911.
My guess is that I might have been the senior member age-wise there today. There was plenting of running, sliding, and diving for this "over 55" old guy. This was accompanied by a lot of huffing, puffing ( much to the enjoyment of my son the soccer player ) I'll be hearing about that for a while for sure !
If anyone took pictures could you please share with us ? We completely spaced taking any.
Once again we just wanted to thank Moondog and the group for a great day ! It couldn't have been any better for us.
Now where did that Advil go....................... ?

Today was really fun, and Cracker and I made a pretty good two-man team. I really need to study some small unit tactics and drill a bit before the next game, though. I felt myself getting sloppy near the end.
You guys are all fine, upstanding gentlemen!

Moondog ran a really fun event as usual. I got to meet some new players and play with some old friends as well. I had never been to Stryker before and I have to say they have a really great place. Looking forward to going back there.
I have to give props to my entire Opfor team. Everyone did a lot of running to back into the fray and everyone held the line extremely well. Everyone moved agressively and we never really gave any ground. We met our objectives and cost the SECFOR team heavily for every inch of ground they advanced. By the end of the 3rd round we were mostly down to pistols vs M4 but everyone kept up the pressure.
It was nice not to be the oldest guy on the team for a change too!
Have to say I really enjoyed the Milsim rules. I spent a lot of time shooting lefty as a result and one game I was shooting lefty and limping! The modified Sugar Hill zombie game was fun, I got separated from my squad and ended up shooting Magnet in the leg when he surprised me in the dark. I only managed to locate one stamp before being turned to a zombie. The zombies always win!

Keats - Cracker had a great time working with you. Thanks !
The Milsim was excellent. Like Sinner I was a made lefty a number of times; luckily the MP7 is ambidextrious friendly. Used my body armor and helmet more than once as well. Milsim was kind of the reason we liked airsoft. And why I went GBB w/ actual capacity mags as it makes me think .
Our team was great and worked well together. I was lucky enough to find a spot where we could see down suicide alley to protect the bomb and also see when SECFOR was leaving their own zone. There were a number of times when I crawled into the wooden crate I was behind as it was raining rounds from everywhere !! And someone was trying to snipe me from the General's Quarters thru suicide alley to my position on the other side between the POW camp and the tent. It took me a while to figure out where it was coming from until we caught a glimpse of a helmet in the GQs. Then we could return fire ( Cracker and Keats were in/around suicide alley. Cracker said he kept hearing rounds coming from both directions down the alley ).
We tried to work our way into SECFOR's zone and set up just on the other side of the wall they were using for cover (seemed like a good idea at the time). Unfortunately they were waiting as I tried to make the final dash and opened up on me. After making a very ugly and somewhat painful head-first dive into an open door I remember saying outloud to myself while laying there with rounds bouncing all around " well, that didn't go very well Rick. Any other bright ideas ? "
It was really a great time. Thanks again and am looking forward to meeting everyone again.

This event was a blast. Thanks again Moondog & Evike for the prizes.
I know our team worked really hard all day as the opposition was VERY skilled and really made us work. It was a great day.

The zombie scenario was a blast - I decided as the last survivor to take my own life and blasted my brains out, haha! I tried to drag my teammate around but I finally had to leave him, sorry bro (left for dead style)! hah.I only managed to locate one stamp before being turned to a zombie. The zombies always win!
That was great - that just sort of wraps up the entire day for me in terms of quality of players and fun.
