Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came out to play. We had a great time and the Zulu24 staff were excellent hosts as always! The game was setup with a SORT police team whose primary goal was to locate intel and rescue civilians by extracting them through the city into the staging area at 4pm. The Black Tower Security team was hired by MonstraCorp to cover up the illegal drilling and research station and whatever had gone wrong and to deliver as much intel as they could to their employers. The civilians were tasked with surviving primarily with bonus points for holding on to intel at the end. The civilians team included 2 doctors, the only players who could apply the zombie antidote, as well as 2 journalists whose notebooks were worth valuable intel points. Additionally deputy sheriff Vitka led the ragtag survivors and had the first interactions with zombies in our story. He was also worth points dead or alive to the Mercs and alive to SORT. I will post up all of the prop documents so everyone can see what they may have missed about the story.

The day began with SORT police team inserting at the comm relay station. They quickly moved to the city and began searching the area. The civilians group had already beaten them there and had made off with some key intel. Meanwhile black tower arrived at the village outside of town. Moving quickly the contractors cleansed the drilling research station of any trace of MonstraCorp. With intel in hand they moved toward the chemical laboratory where the SORT team found them.

At this point Mother Nature chose to play her cards. A heavy rain that lasted about 20 minutes soaked everything. Goggles fogged and no one could really see There were a few casualties among the mercenaries and police but both were quickly fixed up by their medics. The civilians hunkered down through the rain, lying in the mud while watching the police and mercenaries battle. Between limited visilibity and fears their only medic would be killed both the contractors and SORT teams moved away from the chemical lab, however the mercenaries had accomplished their goal and retrieved all the intel from the lab.

The SORT team returned to the city and established it as their base of operations. Meanwhile the mercenaries had a similar idea and did the same at the village. Both paramilitary units licked their wounds and tried to recover their vision after the fogging problem. In a bold move the civilians shadowed the mercenaries staying just out of effective range.

Later in the morning it was discovered that one of the journalists had removed the hazardous sample of the infectious material from its safety case. The doctors prognosis was that he was infected and limited time before the fungal infection turned him into a mindless zombie. As time passed his condition worsened and the doctors had to use antidote to buy him more time. The sample couldn’t simply be left behind because it would allow the infection to spread into the ground or possibly animals essentially dooming everyone. With limited antidotes and now time, the civilians left the village and headed to the city to locate the case.

Meanwhile the Black Tower team heard some news from a straggler who mistook them for government agents. There was some big metal case with biohazard symbols all over it in the midst of police units in the city. Still searching for the fungus sample, the mercenaries had a good idea where it was and planned their assault on the city to recover it.

The infected journalist left the other civilians behind in a dash to locate the case himself. As he tried to get into the city he was spotted by police units who quickly moved to intercept him. With his goal not far off Damian whipped out the sample holding it over his head and yelled,

“If I don’t get this thing back in the case weare all DEAD!!”

That motivated the police units who scrambled to reunite him with the case and secure the sample safely inside. With all of the attention focused there, the mercenaries made their way into the city before any of the SORT team realized. Minutes later the journalist was wounded and then the police medic and others went down trying to reach him. On the edge of the city police units engaged and killed mercenaries in concert with civilians who were late to the party.

A few minutes later, the dead began to rise. With no medics to save them mercenary,civilian and police casualties bled out and died, rising up as zombies to chase their former comrades. The remaining police and mercenary forces were quickly overwhelmed in the close quarters of the city. There seemed to be a zombie around every corner! Few civilians remained uninfected and were quickly surrounded by the moaning mass of shambling dead. Both doctors remained but were unable to keep up with the mounting casualties. As more zombies joined the chase, noble deputy Sheriff Vitka sacrificed himself in a last stand to try and protect the remaining civilians.

In the end the zombies won. In the morning the pace was slow and cautious as everyone was focused on survival primarily and protected their resources. Everything rapidly went to hell when all 3 teams clashed in the close quarters of the city. The civilians had no where to go being trapped in the corner of the field.
